• Starting up: Ask students if they usually ask someone for help when they need or when they are doing homework. Ask students to open their books to page 16 and look at Bob’s picture. Explain that they are going to listen to him talking to his next-door neighbour, Sheila. Elicit from students ideas of what Bob and Sheila are talking about without reading the exercises. Keep a record of the students’ guesses on the board and check them after they’ve listened to the recording once.
• Exercise 1: Drive students’ attention to the sentences. Read the sentences with students and tell them to choose true (T) or false (F) according to the conversation. Play the recording again for students to do the exercise and, after that, check their answers as a whole group.
LISTENING ACTIVITY SCRIPT
Exercise 1
Sheila: Hello.
Bob: Hi, Sheila. It’s Bob.
Sheila: Hi, Bob. What’s up?
Bob: Nothing much. Erm, listen… I’m doing my science homework, but I can’t get online. Something’s wrong with my internet connection. Is it OK if I use your Wi-Fi?
Sheila: Yeah, sure.
Bob: Thanks. It’s Sheila456, right?
Sheila: Uh-huh. And the password is Justinbieber.
Bob: It’s what?
Sheila: Justinbieber, one word.
Bob: I didn’t know you liked him!
Sheila: I’m a big fan. I’m listening to his new album right now… So, are you studying for a test or something?
Bob: No, just regular homework… Hmm… the internet’s working, but it’s a bit slow.
Sheila: Really? That’s weird. I mean, Garry’s not at home, and my parents aren’t using the internet. They’re having dinner.
Bob: Oh, that’s OK, don’t worry. By the way, did you know that…

• Exercise 2: There are some extracts taken from the audio script, but they have incorrect information. Ask students to correct the sentences while they listen to the recording again. Check their answers as a whole group.
• Exercise 3: After correcting the previous exercises, divide students into pairs and ask them to quickly answer the questions in exercise 3. Set a time limit for students to do the exercise. Walk around the classroom and monitor their work. If you think students need more practise, you can ask them all to stand up, pair up with someone and perform the conversation. Tell them that when you clap your hands, they should pair up with a different person and perform the activity again. This could be a little noisy.

• Clarify any questions they might have about the exercises.
WATCH FOR...
This specific activity is going to be used to revise content from J1/J2. Students shouldn’t have trouble during the game.
FIM DO COMPLEMENTO
• Arrange students into pairs and set the challenge. They must write as many sentences as possible using the prepositions in, on, under, behind, in front of, next to and between in three minutes. The pair with the most correct sentences is the winner. Ask students to write the sentences in their notebooks.
IMPORTANT
Keep track of student’s performance in order to check if they need some extra exercises or Clinic Classes. Talk to your coordinator if that’s the case.
